The Shift of Possibilities

Being a pastor has allowed me to watch the details of the lives of people shift so that the impossible literally becomes possible.  I think about our own family . . . we are waiting for the paperwork to be done for a little girl born in another part of the world to come home to us. It is hard to imagine all the details that had to shift in order for her to be family . . . but. . . that is God . . . making the impossible . . . become possible.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With human beings this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26).

So, what do we need to do while we wait?  Look at Peter in the book of Acts . . .  put in prison by King Herod . . . who was determined to persecute Christians: So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance (Acts 20:5-6).

Two things occurred as Peter waited for the details to shift:
  1. The church . . . those called by God to bring hope to the world . . . earnestly prayed. To pray earnestly was to pray exhaustively, beyond measure, a considerable excess over what would be expected.
  2. Peter slept . . . sound . . . not even waking up when the angel came.  What does that mean?  Peter completely rested in God . . .  there was no fear . . . not any . . . because he lived his belief that with God all things are possible.
Earnestly pray.
Rest without fear with the belief that with God all things are possible.

Learning with you to KICK START the day . . . in possibilities of God.
