A friend told me about the fun of riding on a
bicycle . . . without holding on. Seriously. Do you remember doing that as child? When was the last time you did it as an
adult? The hands-free ride is a
reflection of energy, joy, and freedom.
How much of our life is lived as if we are on a
hands-free ride?
Too many times situations swallow us up, wasting the
life God has planned for us. Jesus showed
us how to filter and focus on the God-given things of life through prayer:
Your kingdom come
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)
We are released from the things that drain our energy
and take life from us as we connect with the prayer for the kingdom to come and
the will of God to be done. We are no
longer driven by busyness, pressures, or problems but cleared to be a part of
the work of God . . . the kingdom work . . . the will of God . . . which radically transforms our life.
Acts
16:25-27 gives us the insight of
living for the kingdom to come and the will of God to be done: About
midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other
prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake
that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors
flew open, and everyone's chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he
saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself
because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, "Don't
harm yourself! We are all here!"
Can you imagine the exhilarating moment that Paul
and Silas were released?
They prayed and were released. The coloration between prayer and being free
is clear. The thing is . . . if we are not intentional . . . we miss out on
living in the midst of the presence and power of Christ.
Refuse to settle. Ask God for the kingdom to come
and for His will to be done . . . a hands-free ride . . . and make each summer
day count.
Experience the exhilarating moments of divine
freedom.
Enjoy the ride.
