Kick Start with the book of Philippians will begin again tomorrow.  Today, I want to take the opportunity to encourage you to also go to  Expectation . . . Advent 2009 for a special meditation during the advent season.

Revealed Hope . . . Day 2

The LORD is my light and my salvation—
       whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

Whom shall you fear?  To have hope we must see beyond the darkness of the world.  Intentionally turn your eyes toward the Light.

Pray with expectation: Reveal Hope.

Walking In Hope . . . Day 1

Sunday, November 29, 2009
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of deep darkness

a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2
(See also: Matthew 4:16; Luke 2:32)

The prophet Isaiah spoke to the people in an era of discouragement.
He gave hope to the people with the promise of a Savior . . .

a Light dawning . . .

a Light on the horizon of the future.

Pray with expectation: Walking in Hope.

Expectation . . . Week One

Focus on Hope this week.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Isaiah 9:2)

Hope is an expectant trust for things that have not yet happened.

Expectation . . . Advent 2009

Christmas . . . a time of expectation in faith . . . that God is the God of more!
Take time to focus:
Week 1: Hope (Is. 9:2)
Week 2:  Peace (Is 9:6-7)
Week 3:  Joy (Luke 2:8-11)
Week 4:  Love (John 3:16)

Pray with expectancy through the enabling power of the Holy Spirit. Experience the simplicity and power of breath praying.

Become still and know the presence of God. Simplify your prayer to a few words that can be prayed throughout the day.
Take note of how breathing is referred to in the scriptures:

Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)

Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last. (Luke 23:46)
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."  And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of anyone, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." (John 20:21-23)

The Hebrew word “ruah” and the Greek word “pneuma” are translated as “breath” or the “spirit” of God.

Surrender is key in prayer . . . the posture of prayer is one of surrender . . . "I surrender" becomes a simple and powerful breath prayer.

As you wait for Christmas:
Expectantly meditate on Scripture and the focus word.
Pray the breath prayer with expectation.
Live in expectation . . . God is the God of more.
