“Sometimes it seems
that nothing is working out.” I listened
and thought about that statement. It was
said to me by a seemingly successful person.
At least I thought so. It made me
think. What is success?
I think little 15-month
old Madelyn has it figured out. Can you
imagine how her world has turned upside down?
Her world view was developed in an orphanage filled with kids and
several care providers. She has now
spent the last ten days in two different hotel rooms with Tricia and Troy as
they teach her what it means to have parents.
Her world is about to change again as they prepare to fly from China to
Oregon. She will discover what it is
like to live in a home and be surrounded by lots of family and friends. The
thing is . . . I think Madelyn has worked it out . . . because she has allowed
herself to move forward.
It seems to me that
success hinges on our willingness to move forward. If, we are willing to move from what we are
used to doing to what new things God will have us do, then, we are on the path
of success.
I see that energy and
willingness in the book of Joshua. That
said, the people had four decades of wandering in the desert to teach them the
lesson that when we fail to go forward, we will not go anywhere. So. The people did not linger. . . but took
action and quickly crossed the Jordan River . . . and the ark of the Lord,
which symbolized the presence of God was with them: and when all the people had
finished crossing, the ark of the LORD and the priests crossed before the
people. Joshua 4:11
Their success hinged on their willingness to move forward into the place God had planned for them to be in. It took action on their part . . . the decisive action to move forward. Yes. Life changes when we move forward. And, while change presents challenges, when we
allow ourselves to move forward, we can know with confidence that with God, all
things are possible!
